Yesterday my husband, myself, and our 2 gym besties had a great leg workout! Legs are my favorite and least favorite gym days at the same time. They make you feel so strong, but the next day… and the next day you are so sore! Legs are also not my strong point since I tore my ACL in 2015 and had another surgery in 2016. After those surgeries I hadn’t quite got back in the groove of working out until I met my husband and started going to the gym with him.
To date, my max on back squats is 185! I was shocked to get that, and that may not be much, but it felt like a ton to me! It felt great to finally reach that goal. My goal for this year is at least 205, if not more! My husband believes I will surpass that with no problem by the end of the year. I hope so!
Here’s my workout from last night:
Stretch! & Warm-up!
We did each exercise for 3-4 sets.
Back Squats 8-10 reps
Leg Press 8-10 reps
Romanian dead lifts 8-10 reps
Lying Down Hamstring Curls 8-10 reps
Leg Extension Machine 8-10 reps
Kickback Glute Machine 8-10 reps
It may not look like much, but once you get going and do multiple sets it is a lot! It definitely has me sore today and I know it will be worse tomorrow. We super-set a lot of these and took a little bit of longer breaks. You can add warm-up on the treadmill for about 10 minutes and even cardio on the stair-master after for about 15-20 minutes to give your legs a little more burn. **Tip for Leg Day: Be sure you eat enough carbs, otherwise you will feel super weak! Drink lots of water (always) but especially before and after your workout to prevent cramps!**
