Hey Y’all!
Life is so busy lately and my husband and I love using our crock pot! It is perfect to prepare everything in the morning and have a meal as soon as you get home from work.I know when we have children one day that this will come in handy so much! We actually just got a new one for our house we get to move in to so soon! It is from Bed Bath and Beyond linked here!
One of our favorite meals in the crock pot is roast! To start we spray our pot with Pam. Then we place our 1-2 lbs. roast in the crock pot (just feeding myself and my husband). Next we add cut up red skinned potatoes (about 5-6), half of a small bag of baby carrots, and sometimes half of an onion. My husband loves the onion soup mix, so we put 2 of those in there (most recipes only call for 1). We add our 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup. To top it off we add water almost covering the roast, but leaving at least a quarter of it above water. We put the crock pot on high for 8 hours and when we get home, all we need to cook is a green veggie and dinner is ready!
Another meal we love to cook in the crock pot is chicken! This meal requires no extra prep when you get home. After spraying Pam in our crock pot, all we do is put 2-3 chicken breast, a can of green beans (drained), and 5-6 red skin potatoes cut up into cubes, 1/4 cup of butter, and water or chicken stock to your desired amount and about 4 hours later on high dinner is ready!
My husband has found a new recipe he really enjoys with chicken in the crock pot! As always, spray Pam in the pot then add your 2-3 chicken breasts. He adds a lemon, a few sprigs of rosemary, a bag of mixed vegetables (including carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower), some cut up red skinned potatoes, and about a 1/4 cup of butter. On high for about 4 hours and dinner is ready!
Crock pots are so good for fast dinner preparation and you can find so many more recipes online and especially on Pinterest! I know when my husband and I have children, our crock pot will be a life saver. Full bellies equal happy families!
Enjoy Life with A Side of Laurel
